A Memorable Weekend in My Favorite Town of Bangalore

My favorite town is Bangalore. It is the capital city of Karnataka, a state in India. It is located in the southern part of the country. It serves as an important hub for Information Technology in India. People from different parts of the country prefer to work in Bangalore, for its cosmopolitan nature and pleasant climate almost throughout the year.

I started a liking for this city when I was in school. My hometown is Ooty, which is 252 kilometers away from Bangalore. We were taken on a trip to Bangalore during my college days also. That was my second visit to the city. But when I managed to work for a doctor on a project on speech therapy, my happiness knew no bounds. Once in every fortnight, I got a chance to stay there for three days and work.

Whenever we completed a milestone, we got free time to roam about in the city. Things I prefer to do and suggest, would be
* A visit to the Museum and art galleries
* Explore bookstores like Blossoms and Premier, in Church road, Crossword in ACR Tower, etc
* A visit to the shopping malls like Mantri mall in Rajiv Circle and shopping from Commercial Street.
* A trip to Bannargatta National Park

There are various exciting things you can do like go to a movie in a good theatre.

On this weekend which was in the month of July, 2011 we stayed in Yashasvi Rajiv Nivas in SC Road, Sheshadripuram. At first I was a little disappointed to land in front of a gate which was not even 15 feet long. I was taken to a cozy lounge and asked to wait there. While waiting I realized this is going to be a nice stay, though the place was not very huge.

I was given an AC room double cot, though I had gone there alone. I was relieved not to be jamed in a small single cot room. Our work usually happens in the hotel room, as it is software development for speech therapy. So after the work, we always had free time to roam about and enjoy the weekend. We were a team of three females and 4 men. So after the work, we three women set out on shopping.

In commercial street things are really of reasonable cost. You can also shop from Brigade Road and MG road. The list of things which you can buy here is inexhaustible. Colourful clothes, dress materials, fahion jewelries, shoes, art supplies, travel kits etc are abounding in Commercial street. Speak the vernacular or Tamil language! You can get a nice bargain!

Famous saree emporiums like Deepam silks and Prasiddi are found in MG Road which houses different types of Mysore silk sarees and other materials. Chickpet is famous for its exclusive collection of saries, jewelries and dress materials. The list of shopping centres in Bangalore is endless.

My favorite restaurants are Nilgiri’s Cafe, Brigade Road and Kabab Korner in St. Mark’s Road. I also enjoy eating out in KFC.
